Apple Might Replace The iPhone With AR In 10 Years Times

We’re sure that 15 years ago, no one really expected the mobile scene to look like it is today. We’re sure that some probably thought Nokia would reign supreme forever, but obviously that isn’t the case. So the question is, what will the scene look like in the next 10 years? As far as Apple is concerned, it will be powered by AR.

Or at least that’s what analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes, where he suggests in an investor’s note that Apple’s future could see the company ultimately discontinue their best-selling product, the iPhone, and replace it with AR.

Apple has been rumored to be working on a pair of AR glasses, and now based on Kuo’s note, it will apparently help the company lay the foundation for the future of Apple’s very metaverse where the use of augmented reality could actually end up replacing the smartphone. While it is possible that early iterations of the AR glasses will pair with an iPhone, Kuo believes that in the long-term, it might run independent of it.

This means that the AR glasses will eventually have its own ecosystem that will not require the iPhone, allowing users to take photos, videos, make calls, and more completely from the device itself. It sounds very futuristic but whether or not Apple can pull it off remains to be seen. Google’s attempt with Google Glass kind of fell flat, but perhaps in 10 years, the market would be more open to such a product.
