Unf**k Your Nervous System

Guess what! You’re not as messed up as you may have felt you are in the last year. It’s deeper than that. It’s your nervous system. I have asked a fellow medicine sister on the coast who specializes in trauma and breathwork to share her most potent and simple support blog for those of us (all of us) who’s nervous systems need support right now. This is for those who are just starting the journey of looking deeper into their body, mind and spirit when you turn your eye to nutrition and realize that making change isn’t as easy as you thought. It’s easy to feel (especially this year) in moments or spans of minutes that feel like hours that we. are. NOT. good.

And for many of us during the quarantine period, it forced us to face some stuff that we’d perhaps repressed for years, decades? A lot of darkness came to the surface for many of us. So we bogged it down with alcohol, cannabis, sweets & baking or any other number of pacifying substances that pushes our internal emotional work further down in to hiding.

But guess what?

It’s not YOU. It’s your nervous system. Our body is responding to and protecting us from past trauma and in that way, keeps us in a constant state of increased stress hormones so we can run or fight – but we don’t need to. Once we give our nervous system the support it needs; dealing with our ‘stuff’ isn’t as scary and can open a beautiful journey to self exploration and ego work, which can dramatically alter and support our food choices.

So without further ado, here’s what Ariana has to say about all of this!

Nervous system dysregu-what?!

Nervous system health is a super trendy topic right now, which is GREAT because the nervous system literally governs every aspect of our experience.

Your hormones, your motivation, your zest for life, your ability to withstand stress….you name it, the nervous system is in charge of it.

I’ve worked with hundreds of clients over the years dealing with a number of symptoms, from digestive issues to feeling constantly frantic to feeling unable to get up and at ‘em for the day. Many times, nervous system dysregulation is at the root of these symptoms.

The tricky thing is, there’s a lot of misinformation out there about nervous system dysregulation and how to bring it into a state of harmony (hint: “breathe deep!” isn’t always the answer).

In this video, I explain:

  • The differences between a regulated nervous system and a dysregulated nervous system

  • How nervous system dysregulation may be impacting your daily experience

  • What you can do to bring it back into a state of harmony.

IF you feel like conscious connected breathwork (which you can learn more about here) is part of your nervous system regulation journey, you can try out a short 10-minute guided practice here for free, or you can contact me to see how else I can support you with bringing more ease and harmony into your nervous system.
